Where might I look for Financial Help?

In Georgia:

The Georgia Department of Education is handling the Candidate Subsidy program, along with the Professional Standards Commission. Currently their funding concept is under review, but there is money available from several sources. A lot depends on applying for the funds early. Candidates must meet NBPTS eligibility guidelines. Interested teachers need to contact:

Georgia Candidate Subsidy Program Administrator

Local monies:

The Georgia Association of Educators (GAE) financially supports candidates pursuing National Board Certification. Subsidies are provided to veterans who desire to go through the process or retake individual entries or exercises in the school year. They support the State Department of Education and State Farm Insurance Candidate Subsidy Programs, and provides statewide seminars and candidate mentoring work sessions.

The Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) financially sponsors loans and supports candidates pursuing NBCT. In addition PAGE offers assistance to candidates supported by the Candidate Subsidy Program.

Several county school boards are also offering assistance, check with you local county first about loans. (Look to benefits as to explanation of loans.)
