Welcome Middle School Art Educators
As Middle School Art Educators we have a chance to make it or break it for our students. If we can get their attention, make the connection, and excite them about visual art while they are in Middle School they are going to be much more willing to continue art in high school and hopefully college.
I would like to encourage you to explore the GAEA website and discover all of the wonderful educational opportunities GAEA has to offer you, as an art educator, and your students. There are multiple ways for you to "get more involved" if you are not already. GAEA host two art conferences yearly along with YAM, Youth Art Month, Capitol Art Exhibit, and a multitude of other educational tools for you and your students.
GAEA Art Conferences are more of an experience than I can possibly express to you in writing. In addition to all of the wonderful art educators you make connections with at a conference, vendors line the halls with posters, free art supplies, drawings to win materials, expert advice that you might be in need of. It does not matter if you attend your first conference or your 10th, you will leave with a wealth of new friends that are art educators across Georgia and an overwhelming feeling of understanding, appreciation, and if the need be "refreshed" to go back and be the best Middle School Art Educator that you can be!!
In addition to vendors, presentations, dinners, and fun there is a Middle School Division Luncheon at each conference. This is the best opportunity for you to make connections with other Middle School Art Educators in Georgia and share your experiences. I encourage everyone to share their ideas, frustrations, and have a good time. It is critical that you, as a Middle School Art Educator, help advocate Middle School Visual Art. The average attendance at a luncheon is 20 Middle School Art Educators.....this is from all over the state. I know with your enthusiasm and help we can bring together a lot more Middle School Art Educators across Georgia to collaborate with at the conferences.
Please send via email:

Once again, I encourage you to explore the GAEA website and discover all of the wonderful opportunities GAEA has to offer to you and your students.
I look forward to meeting you or reuniting with you at the next conference!
