Phillips lphill77@hotmail.com; Lauren_christine_phillips@gwinnett.k12.ga.us District #3 covers all public and private schools within Cobb, Fulton, DeKalb, and Gwinnett counties. If you teach art in metro Atlanta, we would love to hear from you! Please email Betsy or Lauren if you are interested in becoming an active member in GAEA. In addition to being part of a great professional organization, metro Atlanta GAEA members have several benefits: 1. The Capitol Arts Exhibitthis is a great way for your students to exhibit their work at the State Capitol and meet their State Legislators. Capitol Arts forms are on GAEA’s website. The artwork is due the first week of December. The reception with State Legislators is in February. 2. The Airport ExhibitGAEA sponsors two art displays at Hartsfield Jackson Airport. This fantastic venue for your students’ artwork is seen by millions of people every year! Airport Art entry forms are also available on GAEA’s website. 3. GAEA also sponsors exhibits at the State Board of Education and the High Museum of Art. 4. Opportunities for meeting with fellow art teachers at metro museums. In the past, we have had meetings at the Children’s Museum in Duluth and the Carlos Museum at Emory University. 5. GAEA conferences offer art teachers opportunities for profession learning and development. Most importantly, this is a fun weekend with your art friends! Being a GAEA member is a great way to collaborate with other art teachers, get fantastic ideas, and promote your art program. Please let us know if you have any questions.
