Dear Fellow Art Educators,

I want to introduce myself as co-president of the new District One of G.A.E.A.
I had previously served as district president of the West Metro district. I am located in Douglas County and teach at Lithia Springs High School. I have taken on the challenge of trying to identify and contact art teachers in the district from Douglas County and northward toward the Tennessee line, while my co-president Lee Harris will concentrate on areas from Carrol and Coweta Counties southward toward Columbus.

I would like to identify at least one contact teacher in each county or school district to serve as a liaison regarding state board activities, but I also look forward to meeting with as many of you as possible in person in the future.

My goals are to identify who is teaching art in the district, and to encourage as much growth in GAEA membership as possible. We are going through both turbulent and fascinating times as art educators, and being part of an advocacy group like GAEA is more important now than ever.

If you are a teacher in Paulding, Polk, Harrelson, Douglas, Bartow, Dade, Floyd, Chattooga, Catoosa, Walker or Gordon Counties, I look forward to hearing from you.
